North Korea slams US as racist, human rights 'tundra'

SEOUL: -- Condemned at the UN for rights abuses, North Korea hit back Friday, describing the United States as a human rights "tundra" where racial discrimination flourishes.

Citing the protests that erupted when a police officer was not charged in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, a foreign ministry spokesman heaped scorn on the notion of "rule of law" in the US.

"This is clear proof of the real picture of the US as a tundra of human rights, where extreme racial discrimination acts are openly practised," the spokesman was quoted as saying by the North's official KCNA news agency.

His remarks came a week after the UN adopted a landmark resolution urging the Security Council to refer North Korea's leaders to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for possible indictment on crimes against humanity.

The resolution, drafted by Japan and the European Union, drew heavily on the work of a UN inquiry, which concluded in February that the North was committing rights abuses "without parallel in the contemporary world".

A bit hypocritical, but they do have a point.

The world condemns the PDRK, but jump on the side of the US in its same abuses.

There were even members on here saying the US authorities should be shooting black protesters. That is how lame some people are.,

I believe the statements were left on the forum. So obviously common opinion.

As a US citizen, I agree that there is racism in the USA. It's not just "Black and White", but covers many shades and colors.

Aside from that, the PDRK is hardly a bastion of human rights. I would imagine that any demonstration there, regardless of basis, would be harshly dealt with.

The noise that comes from the PDRNK is meaningless and magnifies their isolated position in the world community IMO.

The only reason these turds even make the news is that they possess nuclear weapons. Without them, there would never be a single news item on them. They are that irrelevant. They have made themselves that irrelevant with their homicidal behavior, and the starvation of their people, while their fat leader gorges himself on $10,000 bottles of fine bordeaux wine, and socks away his millions. Mr. Kim Jun Fat Superfreak, we care little for you, or what you do, but stop abusing your people.

I'm just talking about historical facts ... but the US does have a poor human rights record, when I think.back to its Native people, the use of the Chinese to build its initial infracture, theft and slavery of Africans, illegal detention and torture of whomever the US deems to be a 'terrorists' and the literally millions of innocents the US has murdered in its various invasions across globe 'however it goes about legitimising' those invasions to the word. How many Japanese was it again that were killed and maimed and tortured in 1945??

Come on ... lets not bash one country without remembering the atrocities our own has committed.

The only solution I can think ... is for the United nations ... the Globe ... to make illegal all use of destructive force especially military force. Cut military budgets from all countries and wow ... poverty and hunger is solved ...

Finally some words of wisdom coming from North Korea. He might be a dictator but he definitely is right on his analysis of the States.

And just like Vietnam, they held the mighty yanks at bay, even to this day.

And now they want to take on Putin and the Russians. China next.

What was the name of that university again? The one where the police/guard went in and shot up all the students for protesting. Or is everyone too young to remember that?

The difference is that racial discrimination is against the law. You cannot make people like other people for any reason, but you can pass legislation that makes it illegal on how you behave toward them and what you can do to them.

An analysis from afar may be correct in part, but often times does not tell the "whole story".

Myers makes a persuasive case that we should instead regard the Kim Jong-il system as a phenomenon of the very extreme and pathological right. It is based on totalitarian "military first" mobilization, is maintained by slave labor, and instills an ideology of the most unapologetic racism and xenophobia.
