sticky
There has been no garbage pick-up around Maenam for about a week. It is really pileing and getting stinky. Anybody know what is going on, is it just Meanam or elsewhere on the Island?
evadgib
I hadn't really noticed until I first saw this post, but the place is starting to resemble Glasgow during the winter of discounted tents:)
Popular Post herkycan
Was at the PTT near Hua Thanon yesterday and saw at least a dozen brand spanking new garbage trucks filling up. All painted orange and had Samui Municipality on them. A couple small ones, one medium and the balance big proper compressing trucks. Hopefully those two old green monsters will be retired. Well done to the Municipality for recognizing the issue and taking a huge positive step to clean up our island.
Popular Post Tropicalevo
A while back, a Thai friend told me that the Municipality was thinking about replacing the contracted garbage company with their own trucks. Looks like it is happening. Well done! Edited December 2, 2014 by Tropicalevo
evadgib
I noticed the orange ones on the road yesterday evening & heard my local bins being emptied at 0130hrs.
samuijimmy
Just saw one of the new one's around Soi 6 Maenam, picking up, headed in Bophut direction ... Going to take a while to catch up on some of the huge piles laying around... I don't envy the guys doing it!
No1Farang
There is an area in central Lamai, just off the Stadium Road on an area of swamp land, where fly tipping is becoming a problem. Rubbish has been dumped there for at least a couple of years. A few months ago when they were putting the new drain in on the Stadium Road all the rubbish was bulldozed flat and moved out of sight. The rubbish dumping has now come back with a vengeance and for the first time I think its beginning to smell. Who is the correct person to report this health hazard to?
