I am going to change my visa extension from marriage to retirement and wonder if I will have to show proof of residence

Previously the extension proved my marriage to my wife and our residence at the house in her name

Anybody know if proof is needed for retirement and if so what

You can still use your wife's house book as proof or residence.

Yes, Rob, my wife's house book has definitely done the trick for me at annual retirement extension of stay at Maptaput - although I haven't been asked for any proof of address at all for my last 2 extensions!

At Immigration in Phang Nga I was required to give them a lease contract, a map of the location of the house, and pictures of the house. In Chiang Mai I am asked for a copy of the lease agreement.

Lop buri also wanted a copy of the landladies ID card along with proof of her ownership of the property, rental agreement (open ended) and map of location,hand drawn was OK.

I took several copies of all these as we expect to be in the same place for a while, so don't have to go back and ask again in subsequent years.

I've not been asked for proof of address when doing extensions at Jomtien.

Just talked to one of the aides at Phuket immigration about this and other items. I have done 11 annual extensions (retirement). Always brought wife plus her blue book for house and copy of chanote. Blue book is all that is needed; other significant item is that now Phuket wants bank book page copies as backup to embassy income letter (USA). 90-day notification is now in separate section on ground floor and supposedly is express service. I doubt the express anything at that shop, particularly given the very slow data entry clerks.
