walking around looking for guest houses

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

Back to chiang rai for another trip at the weekend, coming from cmai. Will be staying in one of our usual hotels, either in town on down near the old runway. However, i much prefer guest houses with gardens and/or nice eating areas. We did use to stay at ben's guest house until it changed hands.

What i'd like to do is walk around looking at guest houses that we can stay in during future trips. Clearly it would be nice if there are certain areas where guest houses are conglomorated so that i don't have to walk miles between each guest house. Can locals direct me to certain areas in or around the town centre where i can walk around checking out various guest houses?

I do recall one area north of the middle of town from years ago, but just cannot recall how i got there. I think it was near or just beyond the top road as you head towards the river, but before the river.

Thanks in advance for any useful tips.

Baan Bua just off of Jed Yod road near the Jed Yod temple is very popular and has a nice garden seating/chill out area.

Thanks pomchop, that looks very good and i think i'll try it.

A mate here in chiang mai recommended Koh Loi hotel near the river which also sounded good. Two choices should be enough for me!
