this is for those of you who do business in pattaya, will be moving there in the next two weeks and need to find the best way to get some very important legal papers to me, signed and delivered back to the source, forget faxing, don't want the phone numbers showing ( long story), here in the states you can use fed ex, dhl, etc, etc.

has anyone had to deal with this situation and if so how did you deal with it, thanks

you can use them here in Thailand too ... FedEx DHL and UPS ... even better you can use EMS through the post office here ... much cheaper and less likely to have a customs charge on it

I've used TNT DHL and EMS and they are all good and reliable.

Divorce papers back and forward from England; ditto house sale contracts, and packages from Singapore to up country Thailand by DHL.

All very good - should be no probs.

Fed Ex is good, i've used them several times. Another good way is international registered mail. Much cheaper than Fed Ex. I used EMS at the post office one time and it took longer than regular mail.

There are many agents in Pattaya who will receive your mail, shop around and ask. Fedx will hold your item for pickup at their office. Inquire at their office.

New DHL office ... not an agent ... has just opened in the new Plaza on

beach side of second road (soi 10 , 11 ?)

This goes for DHL: Any Import-Shipment, addressed to someone "upcountry" or otherwise "in the boonies" will be turned over to the Thai Postal Service for final delivery. So, the quoted "Transit-Times" apply only for Bangkok or Pattaya.

Cheers.

Has anyone used any of these services to receive prescription medicines from your home country? I don't want to impose on visiting friends or family. Any issues with customs?

you may find your package gets held by customs if u r from the UK, USA and OZ maybe things could get messy. be warned recently a man got 4 months inside for bringing back 1000 valiums from bkk to glasgow!

The main Fedex office for the Eastern seaboard is at Lam Chabang (Check Spelling). From My experence anything sent DHL Fedex Etc will be stopped by Customs here and you will be charged Duty taxes etc and it will draw attention onto your package. In my opinion its far better just to ship Registered Airmail with insurance. If you are sending medicanes be very carefull!!!

Hi Jasper.

I understand your problem.

Typical address for South Pattaya might be something like this.

Joe Smith

102/77 Soi Post Office

Nongprue

Banglamung

Chonburi 202XX

Thailand

NO PATTAYA ! ... In other words ... you need to find out your PROPER address !

Jasper.

There is no problem !

All the major players have websites where you can calculate the rates.

Ever hear of Google ?

For example DHL 0.5 kG express envelope, NY to Chonburi = 70 dollars.

I have used the UPS 25 kg box they offer - and it was a total nightmare.

FedEx has been good for documents.

Thai EMS is not as fast as they say it is , but so far my items have gone through
