Combat simulation: rescuing a hostage.

PHUKET: -- Units of the Royal Thai Navy base in Phuket joined others in Phang Nga yesterday (January 18) to mark Thai Armed Forces Day.

RTN Third Fleet commander Rear Admiral Sayan Prasongsomrit took the salute at the march-past by troops at the RTN base in Tab Lamu and there was also a demonstration of parachuting skills and a combat simulation.

Armed Forces Day is held on the anniversary of King Naresuan’s defeat of Prince Minchit Sra of Burma in single combat in 1591.

Troops at yesterday’s ceremony also renewed their oath to defend King and country, and were blessed by a Buddhist monk.
