Any tips on getting transport from the airport to my hotel ?

Featured Replies

I will arrive in Chang Mai today and would appreciate if anyone has any tips on how to get transport from the airport to my hotel which looks to be 10-15 minutes away by car.

Does the airport have taxis? Am I likely to encounter any problems with overcharging?

Any tips / advice would be much appreciated.

prices are reasonable at the taxi desk by baggage claim....rate will be pre-determined. 100-150 to most places. Or walk out-side and they will be standing there....may or may not save you $$$$. Since it's a near perfect day; you could also walk 800m to Airport Plaza, and catch a northbound yellow songtaew, that will take you to the south side of the moat for 10 THB. They come about every two minutes during the day, and there will likely be one at the traffic light right there...just get in; they are on a fixed route.

Thank you Bangmai. Can you give visual directions for walking to the Airport Plaza to catch a yellow pickup?

The Airport LIMO used to cost 120 Baht (not sure if the price has changed) and there is a counter right when you leave the luggage-belt area.

these cars are hassle-free and the price is fixed. certainly not a bargain as most distances to accom is not more than 2-3 KM, but they are 100% hassle free and no nasty "bargaining". I prefer them much more than the dodgy "Meter Cabs" which can be had at the Airport as well, but rarely actually use the Meter
