Bicycle Hire

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of information please....

I am thinking of using a bicycle instead of a motorbike/scooter......

Could you tell me how much on average a decent bicycle is to rent? for say 6 months?

and does anyone know the best place to do this?

Cheers guys,

Eddie

If it's a decent one, probably not that much less than a plastic pig. Cheapest mountain bike would likely be 50 baht a day (10k six months). I'd be inclined to buy a basic Giant, Merida or, if on the cheap, an LA (local brand). Latter can be had for 6-8k. You can then easily sell any of these in Classifieds or at your condo or whatever.

Definitely second the advice of buying your own bicycle.

The bicycles you can rent for 50 baht/day are crap. I haven’t done any research myself, but a tourist told me that he had been looking for a bicycle similar to what I bought for 14k, and such thing was 400 baht/day.

My bicycle is a mountain bike with front suspension that can be locked (disabled), so works great both in town and terrain.

I also bought a bicycle for my girlfriend in BigC for 4k, but if you’re here for 6 months, 14k is only 76 baht/day, and if you can sell it for half when you leave, we’re talking about less than 40 baht/day — doubtful anyone would rent you anything good for that price.

Better to buy and use it for 6 months, after that can post on facebook group to sell it with 30-40% discount whistling.gif
