Nystatin

Featured Replies

Hello,

Has anyone been able to find Nystatin in any form here in Thailand?

I'm in Chiang Mai; I've checked a few of the bigger pharmacies but no luck. I'm happy to go get a perscription from a doctor, but I didn't want to pay the visit fee if it's not possible to get it.

Many thanks.

It's available in many pharmacies, the common name here is Mycostatin Oral Suspension.

Thanks so much, very appreciated. Maybe I just went to the wrong pharmacies; the one near the bus station seems to have everything, surprised they didn't have it if it's available. I will try some others. Thanks again.

What form are you looking for?

Oral suspension (for thrush) = Tystatin (Mycostatin seems no longer sold here, though some places may have it on the shelves still).

Vaginal suppository = believe it or not, can't get nystatin alone, but there are multiple brands of a three drug combo that includes nystatin. Gynecon seems the best known brand of these.

Topical (for skin) = not available, but there are many forms of clotrimazole around which will work just as well for fungus. Or, there are some combination creams that include nystatin but as most of these also have a steroid, do not recommend them.

I'm looking for pill form, if possible. If not then oral suspension will have to do.
