BANGKOK, Feb 13 -- The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) and Naka Clean Power Company have contracted to construct a Nong Khai Industrial Estate to support economic development with Laos.

IEAT Govenor Verapong Chaiperm said that under the contract the agency and Naka Clean Power would jointly build the new industrial estate to support industrial growth and the Thai government's policy to open new industrial estates.

The Nong Khai Industrial Estate is located on a 2,960 rai plot in Phon Sawang sub-district of the provincial seat.

Near Udon Thani airport, there is infrastructures to support its operation and connectivity with other regions.

The new industrial estate is expected to attract nearly 100 billion baht investment and create at least 22,000 jobs.

The IEAT governor said targeted industries there were farm product processing, food, beverage, electronic components, electrical appliances, auto parts, and logistics. He hopes it will boost the industrial and investment role of Nong Khai.

The new estate is expected to be completed in 2020. (MCOT online news)

Does anybody know where this "Phon Sawang" is? The article says it is near the Udon Airport, but the airport is 57 Kilometers from NongKhai, and if you google Phon Sawang NongKhai you come up with a place in Bueng Kan.

I believe they are refering to the sub district of Sakhrai which was part of the province of Nong Khai. The city of Nong Khai is indeed located some distance from Udon Thani airport as stated. The area in question I believe is located just north of the Udon Thani and Nong Khai border which would be serviced by the airport. It has been reported it is a Thai/Chinese investment.
