Thailand kicked out of Merdeka Cup

SHAH ALAM: -- Indonesia marched into the final of the 38th Merdeka Cup football tournament after they edged Thailand 1-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium here tonight.

The squad coached by former Thailand manager Peter Withe have collected five points in the league-format tournament after playing to draws of 1-1 and 0-0 against Malaysia and Burma respectively in the earlier matches.

Thailand only managed a total of one point when they drew 2-2 with Burma and lost 2-1 to Malaysia.

Indonesia dominated much of the play and egged on by about 8,000 supporters found the goal from their first corner kick in the match in the 26th minute.

The shot taken from the left corner by Atep (who has only a single name) was neatly headed in by Bayu Sutha.

Indonesia were anxiously waiting for the outcome of the second match between Malaysia and Burma that kicked off later to know who their opponents will be in the final.

I have got to admit, what caught my eye here was, 'kicked out', what was it drugs, fighting, inappropriate liasions, no beaten by the normal rules of the game.

Red, said everything else.

Good luck George, thanks for letting us know
