Anyone ever re-paint their kitchen cabinets?

Featured Replies

Something I'd like to do, my kitchen is looking rather tardy.

I have looked at many you tube videos, but most of them use products that don't seem to be available here.

However, where theirs a will there's a way right?

I'm just looking from tips from someone who has done it and how pleased they were with the results?

Thanks in advance

TP

What are the main problems ? Just fading color or other problems ?

What I did is totally disassembled the kitchen, replaced most of the rails and hinges (Hafele offers lasting quality for reasonable price http://www.hafele.com/th/en/products/furniture-fittings/79.asp ). Then I asked a guy to spray paint everything. Much better finish and if you have no other job to do it's cheaper to hire someone than buying the compressor, paint gun, ...

Quite happy with the result.

I just want to brighten it up.

We chose a dark wood colour and I would like to make the cabinets an ivory/white colour.

Finding a professional spray painter could prove difficult here in CM, but I have seen the results of spraying on youtube and they look good

Most paint sprayers are found in the metalworking shops they dont use brushes.

You could try there. They would love to have a play with ivory as opposed to black and red lead.
