Help Needed About Visa

Featured Replies

Hi folk, i am just asking if anybody has in the past used a foriegn currency account as part of the 800k Bhat needed for the retirement visa. I was told by the bank that with the letter you need to take to immigration if you held cash in a FCD account the amount was on paper put into Bhat at that days rate and was stated in the letter only but not actualy exchanged (due to the present poor exchange rate). The reason for me asking is that someone i know who did this last year has had it refused this year. So is it a new rule i ask ?. Any help please as its to late for me to change anyway as my visa has only one month left so it would be deemed to have not been in Thai Bhat for the three months leading up to the visa date. Thanks

There have been reports here of foreign accounts being accepted.

Most offices will accept a foreign currency account to meed the 800k baht in the bank requirement. The bank letter for them has always been written such that the funds are shown in the equivalent in baht on the date the letter is written using that days exchange rate.

Are you using just the money in the bank option or are you using a combination of money in the bank and income to reach a total. of 800k baht?

For the money in the bank option the funds must be in the bank for 3 months.

For a combination of income and money in the bank there is no written requirement for the money to be in the bank for any amount of time but there are few immigration office that want it to be there for 3 months.
