Kite Flying Too Late For The Bikinis

The beachfront at Cha-Am was buzzing in March this year. First with Bikini Beach run on 15th March and then at the end of the month the kites were flying for the annual International Kite Festival ‘seasunsandfly’.

It may be interesting to consider a combination of the two, kite flying in bikins? In the bikini run Kenyan runners once again won both the men and ladies open events.

This is a worldwide phenomenon with African runners showing a clear pair of heels to other nations in many distance running events.

Nelson Kiptoo wsa the 26 year old men’s winner and Serem Valentine Jepkemoi, also a 26 year old look out the ladies.

There is a competitive element to kite-flying with aerobatic competition and syncronised team vents however it’s more about colour, ingenuity in design and just sheer spectacle. One of the real advantages of the Cha-Am beachfront is that it absolutely open to everyone with no ocean side development.

Events such as these just add the appeal of the beach that everyone can enjoy.
