A sad ramble

Saturday a bit unlucky.
papa has been sick with food poisoning for 3 day so
happy to be eating again.
My MacBook has been sick lately and totally wouldn’t boot up after noon so
off to TukCom.
Had my documents & such moved to an external drive I bought
…500gig…1/2Tera, wow.
Shop reinstalled an OS.
Okay.
Then dropped my cheap phone on the tiles & kaput.
The boy scout had a spare, so moved the card over & everything groovy.
Aboot 2245 hopped on the YNSX off to the pub to watch a MMA, UFC card in Texas.
After turning right into the small busy soi in front of the condo I heard this loud bang und found papa & SX sliding port-side-down, smacking helmet on the pavement smartly.
Looked down the soi expecting to see the perp speeding off but didn’t see him.
SX idling on its side in the middle.
Sat down in the open bar opposite, doffed helmet,
and did a personal damage assessment:
Pretty good bleeding ding on the left elbow.
5baht-coin-size scuff outside left knee.
Bruised hip.
Crowd was gathering and some of the girls cleaned me up.
Medics arrived.
The girls did okay so papa declined services.
Then noticed the medics treating the other guy.
Young Thai guy bleeding from the face, no helmet, mao.
His Waves’s peg left a scratch like 20 meters down the middle of the soi.
A cop showed up, talked with a witness, probably determined not farang’s fault, hence no opportunity for money, then left.
Figgered I should too.
I pushed the bike back across to the condo parking,
started and found it ride-able;
several flapping plastics & bent bars not-with-standing.
Trashed my fav slacks.
Anywho, jumped on Sparky and off to the fights.
Rolling up I was disconcerted to find that UFC was not being shown!
It should have started already per the posted schedule at the pub, and, according to my research on the inter-web.
So I axed the mgr Marty to que it up.
He said his own inter-webbing earlier @ his bookie site showed the fight not starting until 4AM.
“Fights must have been postponed.”
I pointed the contra-indicating evidence that it was on now.
The first 2 fights already had results up on the net!
“you calling me a liar?!"
[Help me Buddha]
He wouldn’t comprehend the 7-hour difference &c or try to put it on,
so papa spilt before doing something rash.
That post-crash adrenalin mixed with papa’s manly testosterone can be dangerous.
I ’threw in the towell' and headed back hong to shower and re-bandage,
as the elbow was leaking.
In the shower accidentally dropped my specs in the water-closet...
...& a lens popped out.
Tap tap tap….

Hey Papa, glad to hear you are OK. At least this is what i think i understood from your OP.

Yep, Songkran always starts earlier than you expect it. I noticed speeding drunken idiots racing up and down my street for 1-2 weeks now. Normally not so many, must be Songkran pre-partying.

papa ok.

Elbow will be tender a while.

700 baht for tetanus shot, dressing & pills.

Nouvo:

Turns out the handlebars were ok.

2000baht got a bunch of new plastic attached today.

A few pieces with just minor scratches, I left.

My top box was quite scratched and blown apart at the hinges.

Mech fixed that too.

Very clever with his hands.

I thought I was giving to have to trash it.

Some scratches on the SX show that we actually ride these dangerous thingies. Dont remove them all ;)

Good papa is OK and that the frame and metal isnt bend. Just make shure to repaint those places that would start rusting.

If you need new pants and want to increase safety you may should look at the 5.11 Taclite Pro pants. They are a bit more hot than your lightweight cotton pants, but they are still comfortable to wear in hot humid climate. And all risk areas are double layer of durable ripstop material. Imo perfect for city riding. You can get them at tank-store, though i never ordered there, so cannot comment on service.

These would have helped.

So papa paid lady 20baht to sew 4 pockets (recycled) inside trousers to accommodate some on-hand foam for pads.

The locations correspond to where I got dinged.

Lemonade.

Old-school-tactical.
