I have 2 shower cubicles that are heavily stained with water spots, although I have a water softener.

I have tried every possible scale removal product, even imported ones from my home country, have polished with a polishing machine and finally have sanded it using wettable sandpaper.

The glass now feels much smoother but the stains are still there, and additional full of sanding scratches.

So I'm thinking of replacing the cubicles, but I wonder if after a certain time it will not look the same.

Another option, if available, would be to have the glass polished by a professional glass company. Anyone know if this service is possible and an estimated cost?

Any advice appreciated.

In the US glass shops use a powdered cleanser called Bon Ami to remove scratches. It has a much finer abrasive than other brands such as Comet. It's found in grocery stores with other cleansers.

They make a paste out of it and just polish.

For that scale I'd use a similar product called Barkeeper's Friend and if I couldn't find it I'd try to find some oxalic acid which is in Barkeeper's Friend. It will dissolve that scale. It's also found in grocery stores if they have it in LOS.

If you can't find any of that, give it a go with white vinegar. The scale is certainly highly alkaline and it will take an acid to remove it if it isn't done mechanically with an abrasive such as Bon Ami.

Barkeeper's Friend won't scratch glass but has a mild abrasive and the acid so I'd think of an abrasive + acid.

Good luck.

I have used every possible product available in Thailand and in addition used white vinegar, and imported anti scale products.

I sanded the glass with a grade 600 wettable sandpaper, and still the stains are there in full glory.

So I have given up on that.

The cubicles are only 4600 Baht at Home pro at the moment, so it will not really kill the bank, but I wonder if every glass shower cubicle gets the unremovable stains over time?

Because in that case it would just be money down the drain of course.
