BANGKOK: -- A teacher is among the two new suspects arrested for allegedly playing a role in the Central Festival Samui bomb blast.

An informed source revealed yesterday that the 33-year-old teacher, who works in Pattani province, was being questioned at a military base.

"He is suspected of stealing a pickup

truck on March 31 for use in the bomb attack," the source said.

The stolen vehicle, which belongs to a

local administrative body, was driven into the Central Festival Samui shopping mall in Surat Thani province on April 10 loaded with explosives. The blast late that night injured seven people.

Assistant National Police Commissioner Lt General Prawut Thavornsiri yesterday confirmed the arrest of the two new suspects. He said one of the pair ran an automobile business.

Asked about the other suspect, Prawut said: "The other one is part of the team. But we can't disclose what role he played."

Prawut said the ongoing investigation suggested that the team might have used four vehicles, not three.

Meanwhile, Muang Yala Police chief Colonel Jamlong Suvalak said security officials were now trying to locate three other vehicles: a silver Honda Civic, a white Mitsubishi Triton and a four-door Isuzu D-MAX.

"We believe these vehicles are now in the three southernmost provinces," Jamlong said.

According to Prawut, at least five suspects are now in custody. Three were security guards at Central Festival mall in Samui.

Surat Thani Governor Chatpong Chatraphuti said the investigation into the bomb blast was more than 80 per cent complete.

"Police are checking recordings from over 50 security cameras," he said.

In the wake of the bomb attack, Chatpong ordered security be beefed-up at key places such as City Hall, the provincial court, Ratchaprapha Dam, Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.

"We will also watch over department stores and key economic zones," Chatpong said.

And the saga goes on and on.........
Nongkaikid, was right when he said that they should shut their mouths and only open them when they have some results.
At the moment they are releasing statements full of speculations and nothing robust.
We don't want to be reassured that you are trying to do your job, after all that's what you are paid for........just give us results.

Are you upset because the arrested person doesn't meet the profile of a redshirt?
Were does it say that he is not a redshirt?

Profile of a redshirt according to the experts of TVF: Uneducated impoverished northerner.

And the arrested man is an educated southerner with a decent wage, albeit modest. The icing on the cake is that the two latest detainees are not Buddhist. BTW, when did the UDD ever have any support in Pattani? It is hardly Redshirt country is it?

You keep clutching at straws, but the hope of blaming redshirts for this event linked to a labour dispute is getting fainter every day.

Slow down g'kid, your seeing anti-reds under the bed / everywhere.

Slow down to at least panic speed.

BTW, when did the UDD ever have any support in Pattani? It is hardly Redshirt country is it?

Led by former Labour Minister Dr Prasong Buranapong, they did declare a Red Shirt Village in Trang province last Thursday (November 1)

and they have also declared Villages in the troubled Deep South provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat,

though opponents say that only a handful of houses in those villages have openly declared support by hanging out red flags. -

He's saying this because when news of the bombing first broke, a number of Sherlocks here were quick to pin it on the Red Shirts with Thaksin as the evil paymaster/puppeteer.

That article is 3 years old and says they were stopped from living there. Such is Thai society. You can only live somewhere if you wear the right coloured shirt. A friend of mine (British) left a company he was working for because everybody kicked off at him for being a redshirt. He was wearing a Man Utd shirt and probably cares less about Thai politics than he does British politics.
