Looking For A Flat...

Hi, I´m looking for an apartment in a house or Condo for July/August 2004 in Hua Hin or Cha Am. 2 bedrooms.

Possibly with a pool.

And within walking distance from the beach.

Any suggestion?

Finding a condo or a house for only one month, particularly February (highest season and Chinese New Year) will be difficult.

The better condo buildings seldom have rentals (particularly short term).

Chaamman speaks highly of the HH Observer....I strongly disagree.

You certainly may want to check it out....it might give you some local info (between all the ads for new houses and developments)...........but what little writing they have is childishly written.

Their classified section can sometimes be helpful; but many ads reappear month after month, often well after the item has been spoken for.

In Jan. or Feb a "new" monthly appeared on the scene......Hua Hin Today (website:

www.hahintoday.net .........also very badly written, but at least they try to cover local news and offer more info.

You may want to try Condo Chain (not to be confused with the VIP Condo Chain, which is out near the Dusit Hotel)....on Petchkasem (main road) just south of Soi 75.

It's about 11 years old...perhaps 3.2 out of 5 stars....they often have monthly units, primarily 35 sq. meter studio types (and occasionally 1 BR units of about 90 sq. meters). at about 7,000 and 14,000 respectively + water and electric (prices are set by individual owners).

They ONLY accept new tenants at the reception desk, where English is almost understood.

I'd doubt that they'll have anything available in Feb., but you could check it out once you arrive.

Your best bet is to connect with an agent thru the 2 rags mentioned above.

If I were you, I'd get a hotel for a few days, rent a motorcye and do some exploring..........or hire a tuk-tuk for a couple of days (make sure he's got a cell phone) and look and ask around.

July and August will be easy to find a place.

Try Condo Chain (written up in another post from me today).......just south of Soi 75 on Petchkasem Road...........although it's highly unlikely that they'll have a 2 bedroom available.
