Officials carry out checks on one of the three fishing boats.

PHUKET: -- Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong was part of a team who yesterday (April 29) carried out checks on three fishing boats looking for illegal workers and activities. 47 fisherman on board the boats were also screened for drugs. Nothing untoward was found.

At 2pm, Gov Nisit led team of police and officials from the Thai Royal Navy, Fisheries Department, Employment Office to check fishing boats at Ao Klong Tha Jean for any illegal workers and activity.

The team spent two hours checking three fishing boats and 47 crew member (40 Burmese and 7 Thai).

After the two hour check officials stated they had found that no immigration or employment laws had been broken, there were no signs of human trafficking, no illegal transportation of oil or fuel, and no signs of drug use.

Exactly my thought. Maybe one week's notice was too much.

47 random fishermen with no illegal drug use ??? cheesy.gif Pull the other one

Why is a local Guv always leading these officials, a few photo ops and everything's OK. But it is not OK, not at all, all will be revealed by credible outside sources.

One would think these issues are for the Thai equal of the FBI or in Aus the AFP as the crime is a national and international issue.

You answer your own question. It's all a photo op to display how seriously he is dealing with this issue. We all know it's complete BS.

7 Thai, 40 Burmese. Did they check pay stubs, making sure the minimum wage was paid?

Interviewed the crewmen privately? One thing is for sure they got the results they wanted. coffee1.gif
