Pairing Bluetooth speakers

Following the advice of TV members I purchased a TDK TREKmax 34a wireless speaker and am happy so far. I had no problems at all pairing it with my Iphone 5c but am having some difficulties pairing it with my HP desktop with bluetooth installed and running windows 7. When I try to pair the TDK with the computer i can see the device in Devices and Printers but when I rightclick on the device there is a notification to troubleshoot. When I troubleshoot it says the drivers did not load properly. I contacted TDK support and they say there are no drivers for this device. I took a few screenshots of the message and sent them to TDK support but they simply blew me off and referred me to Microsoft support. I think I have followed all the information from Microsoft but still no joy so now I am back to TV to see if some of you on here who have experience with this type of set up may have some advice. Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure your PC, and PC Bluetooth drivers supports the "Services" you want.

If the device is already PAIRED then an icon should appear in the Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.

Locate "TREKmax"
Right-Click, select "Properties"

In the (SERVICES) tab and see what services are checked.

If "Headset" or External "Speakers" is listed and checked then that service should be available.

To ENABLE external speakers:

Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray

select Playback Devices

select the "TREKmax" device and then "Set As Default"

Audio should now be output only to the TREKmax, or if not found default back to the PC Audio-Out.

IF you don't get these options, can you list what SERVICES were available in "Device and Printers" entry?

Be sure to unpair the iPhone before you pair the computer. The speaker can not be paired with two different devices at the same time. For Win 7, I suggest going through Control Panel - Sound and setting the default device to the bluetooth speaker. This, of course, is after pairing it with the computer under Control Panel - Devces and Printers. If you have an older computer, the problem could be with the computer's wireless and bluetooth chip. The bluetooth drivers may be old Microsoft bluetooth drivers. You can go into Device Manager - Bluetooth and click on update driver but it could just be that your computer's bluetooth is flaky. If that's the case, then nothing will work. I have computers like that. They just won't stay paired with bluetooth even though "Energy Management" for the device is turned off. Bluetooth can be very frustrating. If your speaker has an Aux In port, it may be simpler and easier to connect the computer with it using an audio cable.

In Devices and Printers I see TREKmax and when I check services I see

Audio Sync

Hands Free Telephony

Headset

Remote Control

They are all checked. When I rightclick the speaker icon and go to Playback Devices I only see the speakers for my desktop and no listing for TREKmax.

I have turned off bluetooth on my iphone so that shouldn't be a probem. TREKmax is in Control Panel-Devices and Printers but not in Control Panel-Sound. I went into Control Panel-Device Manager and checked bluetooth and it says it is working properly but I updated the drivers anyway. I could use an AUX port but the whole idea of this exercise was to try to get my desktop to run a speaker on the deck without hasseling with cables.

So it looks like what I have to do is figure out why TREKmax is shown in Control Panel-Devices and Printers and why it isn't being shown in Control Panel-Playback Devices or Sound. Thanks for your suggestions.

I finally got it running. In Device Manager I kept getting a message that the drivers did not load. I thought af first that it was the TREKmax drivers but support said this device has no drivers. When I tried to update the drivers in device manager they said there were no new drivers. I have a pc repair program so I ran that and it found the broken drivers and referred me to a website to reinstall the drivers for the microsoft bluetooth program. Now everything is as it should be. Thanks for your help.

Glad you got it working.

Caution, many 3rd party programs and sites will help you install device drivers that may work and get you up and running but they also install Trojan spyware and viruses.

Drivers should only be downloaded directly from the Official Support Sites of the System Board, SOC or Chip designer, the OS manufacturer (in the case of generic drivers).

Driver files are the Number One method of virus and spyware delivery because they always get loaded into memory and executed, no questions asked.

Did you scan with Malwarebytes? I've had some Trojans and rootkits that were devilishly difficult to remove. If your computer starts acting up or slowing down, Malwarebytes Cameleon is the solution if the malware is not detectable by ordinary means.

Glad to hear that you got your speakers working. Perhaps they will connect automatically in the future but recommend that you start your machine before you turn on the speakers. My HP tablet automatically connects with my speaker when I start them in that order.
