I've checked out the BKK embassy website and everything seems okay.

Except I cannot bring in cell phone, laptop, camera &c.

Security.

Is there an option to secure these items before entering?

You can check one (1) cell phone at the embassy gate, but that is all: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/security_visit_embassy.html

I think you have to find someplace to store items outside the embassy. I will be doing this sometime later this year, so if you find out anything let us know. I guess travel light is the best advice when visiting the embassy.

You check any items you can not enter with when you first get admitted.

Put your name on a piece of paper and they give yu a bracelet to wear with a tag and number on it.

When you leave, you return the bracelet and your items are returned to you.

It has worked this way since my forst visit to the embassy years ago.

Good to know. That sounds very sensible and reasonable. Pity the website makes it sound like a problem when in reality it isn't.

If you have a bag full of prohibited items they will hold it at security for you. Then just take your passport and appointment print out with you inside.

Dont forget you can ONLY get additional pages thru the end of the year
