Fastest Route, Udon Thani To Pattaya?

Featured Replies

Could anyone help me? I'm leaving Udon Thani in a couple of days, traveling to Pattaya and would like to know the quickest route. I usally go down highway 2 towards Bangkok then pass through Chonburi which takes me a good seven to eight hours and at least one speeding fine. Does anyone know of a quicker way to get to Pattaya?

Are you talking about the route: Highway 2 to korat, turn onto 304 just past korat, through Kabin buri, onto the 331 and down into pattaya? It's the fastest. There's always a speed trap on the fast stretch between Korat and Pak Thong Chai. Just stick to 100kph. Nice views through the national park too.

korat to Pattaya should take 3 hours. Did Korat to Udon once....took me 9 hours...whilst my wife stopped to buy ISSAN :o:D

Thanks for the info, heard some else say this was a quicker way. Will try it out this trip. Thanks again.

Yes , this way is fastest , please be aware of the police station in Wang Nam Kiew , they are known for stopping everyone and fine them on the spot , no mercy , no corrupion , the chief watches over a big box with cash.

Make sure your car, documents are in order.

They got me twice already , each THB 400.-.

Other than that enjoy a very scenic drive .

I also prefer the route off 2 to 304 to 331. There is about a 55 kilometer two lane stretch through the mountains that is bad but other than that the route is pretty decent. Maybe I'm a slow driver but it takes me about 4 1/2 hours from Korat to Jomtien.

Make sure you stay in the left lane there as well even though road is crap in places. They got me twice there at 5.30am!

Also on the winding mountain route DON'T overtake on the bends where it says "don't overtake" cos they are waiting to get you. Even at 3am. And before any sanctimonious posters come on preaching the law, I had to overtake as I came across an overloaded 10-wheeler crawling up the hill with NO lights on the back. It was overtake or hit the truck. I pointed the truck out as the cop was sticking his mit into the car begging like the piece of scum that he was. Of course the truck belonged to a poo yai and would never get done.
