NLA passes bill to ban possession of child pornography

BANGKOK: -- The National Legislative Assembly Thursday passed the final reading of a bill to amend the Criminal Code to ban possession of child pornogrphy.

The bill was passed in the third reading with 193: 1 votes.

Two NLA members abstained. The bill set the same penalties for people who have child pornography for personal use with those who make or sell it.

They will be liable to three to 30 years jail term and a fine ranging from Bt60,000 to Bt200,000.

Fourth Army Area tightens safety measures in Deep South as new school term approaches

PATTANI, 14 May 2015 (NNT) - The 4th Army Area has instructed Deep South security units to take extra caution in providing safety for school teachers when the new school term begins on Monday, May 18th.


According to Army Region 4 Commander Lieutenant-General Prakarn Cholayut, security patrols will be deployed to places that are vulnerable to insurgent attacks like bridges and tunnels.

Their presence is to assure safety for teachers. The Ranger Regimen Taskforce 33 in Yala province has also sent its security unit to safeguard Baan Pong Yue Rai School today to make sure the surrounding areas are safe before teachers and students arrive next Monday.

PHUKET: -- A bull had to be rescued from a small reservoir in Kathu earlier yesterday (May 13) after it fell in. Coincidentally, yesterday was the annual Royal Ploughing Ceremony day.

Yala prepares security meeting for teachers

YALA, 14 May 2015 (NNT) - Yala province has prepared a security meeting on protection for teachers and educational staff ahead of the new school term.


The Yala Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 has organized the meeting with teachers and educational staff from 111 schools. Other officials in attendance are from the Yala police station, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4, and the operation centers of Raman and Krong Pinang districts.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Yala governor Sayun Intarapak, who instructed authorities to raise morale among teachers and staffs in the area.

The purpose of the meeting is for directors of educational institutes and related units to join hands and inform each other of security protocols.

Migrant boat found in Thai waters: AFP reporter

Andaman Sea : -- A boat crammed with scores of Rohingya migrants -- including many young children -- was found drifting in Thai waters Thursday, according to an AFP reporter at the scene, with passengers saying several people had died over the last few days.
