Reasonable 32 Inch Full HD LED LCD. What's a good deal at the moment?

And suspect most people living in Thailand forgo the wine; red or white. It also costs more than it is worth here. Living on the Rhine I might have a different opinion; as I did some 45 years ago.

There's plasmas and then there's plasmas though... the higher end plasmas (Pioneer Kuro, Panasonic ZT/VT) are only challenged by OLED for black levels.

No way does my LG 4K IPS panel with local dimming best or even match my Panasonic VT series plasma for black levels - if you want plasma blacks, you'll need to pay OLED prices wink.png

Plasma's used to be mainstream.

Now they are esoteric/top end.

Sure, give me the blackest of blacks, but when it comes to economical excellence and small differences requiring exponential outlay, isn't the writing on the wall?

Pioneer Kuro were the best in blacks but now deficient in other respects.

Big C are currently advertising..

.

Samsung 32", HD, USB, HDMI with digital tuner for 8,990 baht

Toshiba 32" HD, USB, HDMI (not sure about digital tuner) for 7,490 baht

Just to give you an idea.

We bought a 55" all singing, all dancing Samsung Smart TV, latest model, from Lazada for 27,000 baht earlier this year, 1 year warranty, cash on delivery when they had some special offers and discount codes. It is performing perfectly. So try Lazada...

Thank raw.

Good to hear you have trouble free service.

Many report Samsung service issues.

Big c specials worth a look.

Although it pays to check whether it's a budget, problem clearance or considerably outdated model.

We have had a 32" Samsung basic 720p set for 5 years and just got a terrestrial digital box and a small aerial from Tesco and it is performing as good as the day we bought it.... for 17,000 baht (sic)

40" full HD TCL on sale now at Big C for 8,990 (was last week anyway). I bought one a few months back because of the price and I'm happy with it. Not a spectacularly vibrant picture, but I haven't even adjusted the contrast, hue, brightness, etc.

I have a Samsung 32" Full HD TV for a computer monitor, (Purchased in 2011) and it does have a hum. Not loud enough to call it a buzz, and it doesn't affect sound when I use it as a video player, but it is a little irritating when I'm focusing on big spreadsheets from 2' away in a quiet office. Otherwise, it's a great monitor and video player..

On the plus side, both the Samsung and the TCL (and my Toshiba 24") all support full HD by the VGA port. Some monitors support 1920 x 1080 by HDMI, but lower resolution through the VGA port. In fact, most lower end TVs don't even have a VGA port any more. VGA is handy for my dinosaur computers that I use occasionally for their serial ports- more legacy equipment.

ComMart (Next Gen, whatever that is) is coming to Q Sirikit NCC next weekend, and if it's like normal Commart shows, they'll have a big variety of TVs on offer. http://www.qsncc.com/en/visitor/event-calendar/item/1599-commart-next-gen.html

Unfortunately, you'll have to put up with the gorgeous ladies and their huge amplifiers...

On a related topic, anyone bought a ProVision TV? They're made in Thailand and have the lowest prices at the shows, and at Big C or TESCO (I forget which).

I personally have couple of Panasonic Plasmas (42in & 46in) & appreciate good things.

Have reviewed the sets on offer at Tesco's and I must say the operational 21in Sony CRT being used downstairs has incredibly good color, detail, and crisp sharpness.

Although sharing the antenna signal with a number of panels, the LCD's on offer at Tesco looked quite pedestrian.

The user just needs something small for personal use in the bedroom.

Tesco have a 19 inch Full HD LED ALPHA for 2,990.

Fits the bill and is sharper than the Samsung.

2 year warranty.

The speakers on the ALPHA are large in comparison to the big name brands which are so deficient they need sound bars.

Any thoughts on ALPHA?
