h90 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 In the past I had many accidents on my knees and was never at any doc with it....Always got good again. No pain now. (Only when I go longer with the airplane (11 hours), it needs 2 weeks till my knees feel OK again. They feel like there is sand in the joint. But beside that they are OK. Today I made heavy squats. Than dead-lifts, but not that heavy and a bit extensions on the machine. Everything no problem. Later I sat a while, stand up and my left knee couldn't extend full. Walked a bit and it went a bit better. No pain. When I try to extend I fell pressure on the outside, in my guess below the joint something is blocking it. It feels the same as when I had years ago the joint capsule of the elbow damaged and blood came inside and caused the joint to be restricted in movement. But that was a day or so after an accident. Here it was maybe 30-60 min after exercise without accident. It feels like it will be good again in a few days, it doesn't hurt and I can't see any swelling on the outside. Any thoughts what they could have been? Can a joint capsule rupture without accident? I guess with lot weight on the back, if you go down in a squat to the maximum you can do, there is a lot force on the joint?
rodknock Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 get an x-ray!! do not play around with your knees!! see a doc.
Sheryl Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Agree with the above. Also, avoid the manuevers that caused the problem. After middle age almost everyone has some degree of osteoarthritis of the knee and exercise regimens need to be modified accordingly. Dr. Panya at Bumrungrad is top knee specialist.

As update: Day by the day, it went slightly better. Every day I tried to stretch it, but not too forceful, and doing very light exercise also at the angle that made problems. First I could move it again but only with some power in that area. Now everything is OK, I can bend my knees actually a lot in the "wrong" direction and even that works again. It was almost complete painless beside unpleasant tension and it felt like there is something in the joint blocking its movement. I once had a ruptured joint capsule in the elbow and later for month blood that good hard inside (physiotherapy), that felt exactly the same. Yeah aging is a real hassle.
