Visa needed for Liberia

Featured Replies

Can anyone please advise on how & where to arrange a visa for travel to Liberia.

Australian passport holder.

Searches on TV and google not giving much help

Is there an embassy or travel agent who can arrange in Bangkok

Thanks in advance

Thanks, will do that, but I am looking for something concrete in Bangkok, as booking the trip depends on having all info first and visa pre-arrange if possible

If there is a travel agent or consulate which does this much better to do here

Hopefully someone will have local info?

Well, my Japanese is a bit rusty, but I'll give them a shot.

Thank you

Hi,

As there is no local embassy here for Liberia, you can get the visa issued on arrival. It's not a problem to do so. Indon't need a visa to Liberia myself but have taken people with me that do and it was a simple matter of getting it on arrival. Can't remember the price as it was a couple years ago but it's less than $100.

Cheers,

Thank you Falcon

Any problems checking in for a flight etc?

I guess from Bangkok they won't care as the flights go via Dubai/Jenya/Abu Dhabi etc - but what about the last flight in to Roberts?

Cheers

Perhaps rules have changed.

IATA's Timatic, which is usually reliable and -- more importantly -- is what the airlines check, says that while VOA is available if you're departing from a country without a Liberian diplomatic representative, it must be arranged and paid for in advance by a local sponsor in Liberia. "Note: Passenger should not be boarded unless telex confirmation from airline's station manager Monrovia is stapled to the ticket." Frankly, whether or not that's the actual rule, if that's what Timatic says then that's what the airline will want.
