livestrong Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Going to be visiting Thailand during the rainy season. Do people still play in the rain and are the course open when it's raining? What type of rain gear is needed? Thanks.
visarunner Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 All courses are open , a good selection and info you can find on thaigolfer.com You need only a big umbrella ,a rainjacket , may be 3-4 gloves for change and enjoy your round. On the courses they have every 3-4 holes drinking booths which can be used for shelter in case of heavy rain.
svenivan Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I have been living in Chiang Rai for almost 5 years playing golf 2 days a week. We have stopped playing one time in these years because of heavy rain. In the rain season 95% of the rain comes in afternoon, evening or nighttime. I never used a rainjacket (too hot), only umbrella when there been a shower (and for the sun). But I am talking about Northern Thailand, I don't know the conditions around BKK or Pattaya.
