Is the new visa exemption, which commences on the 1st July valid for both air and land arrivals?

Bump.......

I assume the visa exemption is valid for both air and land entries into vietnam, but I would like clarification that this is the case before I travel.

Anyone?

My agent in Hanoi confirms that the 15-day visa waiver applies at international airports and land border entry points.

Yes, it's valid for both air and land arrivals. However, unlike in Thailand where a visa waiver traveller generally won't be asked for an onward or return air ticket at airport immigration, Vietnam immigration generally does ask for one. So if arriving by air, make sure you bring along a copy of your air ticket or a good excuse as to why you don't have one. If arriving overland, there is no need for proof of outbound travel and you won't be asked.

Note that this only applies for travellers taking advantage of the visa waiver, which is new for some nationalities going to Vietnam. Travellers in possession of a visa will never be asked for an onward or return ticket, even by airport immigration.
