My girlfriend has just obtained a 6-month tourist visa to the UK.

Whilst in the UK, she wishes to visit a friend in Denmark for about 1 week on a Schengen visa.

Would she need to apply for that visa at the Danish Embassy in Bangkok? Is the visa application online only?

Many thanks for your help!

The Denmark embassy in BKK is very efficient and polite. Good experience for my wife several years ago, very much unlike the UK version which she will never, ever try again.

Thanks to all for your replies. One more thing - she has now printed out and completed the Scengen visa application form. Does she apply at the Danish Embassy in person with the form and supporting documents?

Thank you again for your kind assistance.

She can do either, see post number 3 from Donutz, which details the procedure.

Either make an appointment with VFS, pay them a fee to send the application to the Consulate for processing, they take no part in the decision making process.

Or, make an appointment directly with the Consulate, pay no fee and they will process the application. The VFS route might be quicker.

*** UPDATE ***

My girlfriend obtained a Schengen Visa and wishes to pass on her thanks to both theoldgit and donutz for their helpful replies.

The Visa is for 3 weeks duration, has a duration of stay of 7 days and number of entries are 1.

However, she wishes to travel to Denmark for 3 days then straight onto Finland for a further 3 days before returning to the UK.

Is this possible on the above visa criteria?

Thanks once again.

You're welcome. And yes she can, as the visa gives 7 days access to the Schengen area, of which both Denmark and Finland are a part. And Denmark is still her main objective or the country of first entry if no clear main destination so she wouldn't be violating that part of the rules either. Ofcourse plans can change so somebody might arrive have a change of plans but skipping Denmark entirely would almost certainly raise questions and possibly an argument or worse (they may think the visa application was not sincere and refuse entry) at the border. But 3 days of DK and 3 days FIN will be perfectly fine and should be hassle free. Certainly if she carries a copy on her of the documents she supplied with the application.

Obviously once she leaves the Schengen area she cannot re-enter has her single entry will be used up. After she leaves the Schengen zone by crossing the external Schenge zone border into the UK her visa will no longer be of any use.
