QUALITY Psychiatrist and CBT/DBT-trained Psychologist Needed

Featured Replies

Hi folks :)

I'm in the Rayong area and in need of an intelligent, committed, well-educated Psychiatrist and Psychologist trained in CBT/DBT. For Mood/Personality Disorders. Currently seeing a doctor at the hospital. I've done all the research and diagnoses for her. She has had only to concur and prescribe meds. Meds are not right yet, but I can be patient with that. But she doesn't seem to take me seriously about knowing my own brain chemistry and mental history better than anyone. I do.

I'm wondering if I can contact someone in Bangkok via Skype?? I did this in Japan, from up in the rural NE via Skype to a (prickish) Psychiatrist in Tokyo. I'm wondering if I can do this for either/both of PDoc and Psychologist. Anyone with experience doing this here in Thailand? More importantly, are there any good mental health professionals around? I read some comments in this forum that could easily make a person believe his/her mental health cannot be trusted with Thai doctors, but I'm hoping this isn't the case.

My current doc can't speak English well, so relies on my gf to help her do her job (<deleted>, right?), and changed meds from original 5 to completely different 2 and was not available the following week to check up on the drugs' effects. After two days, I've had a negative response to the meds, but have to wait 12 days to have my next meeting with the doc.

Please, no comments about whether I should be taking drugs or not. If you feel that way, you likely have never been in my position/do not suffer from the biological disorders that I do. And this is no joking matter, so please find some other random topic to troll.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice, good friends out there.

There are some excellent well-trained Western psychologists in Bangkok, see the pinned mental health thread in this forum. You would need to see them in person at least initially but they are used to the problem of people living upcountry and will make adjustments, for example longer sessions at a time or 2 back to back on consecutive days with longer intervals in between. Whether or not Skype is an option, you'd have to ask them and they might not be able to say until they have had at least one session with you. Ben Weinstein at PSI is particularly recommended.

There are some good psychiatrists in Bangkok as well. It generally works best to start with the psychologist and let him/her refer you to a psychiatrist as they all have ones they work with and will be able to give behind the scenes input to the MD as well as match you with the one best suited to your specific needs.

Dr. Carl janowitz in pattaya and in bkk , google him . He helped me with panic attacks, nice guy, from the States.
