Last night, around 23:00pm, about 15 police cars outside 808, cops everywhere .

At 1:30am club was still open.

So not sure when orders to close for 10 days were issued or if issued at all

Maybe the owner was late on the "tea money" It takes time to get the money together when you live in BKK and drive to the club to deliver the money. Or am I just being cynical?

Policing here in LOS must be a very difficult process. First the Police Officer needs to scan the social media to find infractions. Then they need to contact the news media and schedule a convenient time to meet up with the reporter and photographer before they can visit the crime scene.

It must be taxing to coordinate all of the different players. I can see the police getting frustrated and maybe just start saying ...."Look, I will be at the Disco at 6 PM to interview the owner and employees. If you want to stay on our good side then you need to be there and taking my picture as I am hard at work".

I'm surprised no one even use this excuse, so was down looking for the actual item for the Korean as a favor. The interpretation was incorrect? 555

They need to fork over the "tea money" or get out of the business. Who do they think they are? wai2.gif

not whining trash, you're handling that.

OMG !!! Commercial sex in Pattaya ? You don't say!!! tsk tsk, how can such miserable perverts turn a beautiful and peaceful seaside resort like Pattaya into a den of sin ? What a lack of respect for this cute little fishing village and its age-old traditions of classical Thai music, classical Thai theater, not to mention their famous and outstanding art of basket weaving.

Great, whether or not people say this is hypocrisy in it's purest form, the unraveling of the outright open-ended sex industry is a beginning of changing the tapestry. The name of the club "808" also is similar to the multiple "88" establishments that have sprung up in Phuket that I see around town and on the internet--the "0" in the middle is similar to an open mouth---

I hope people continue to stop these clubs and establishments from catering to the "88" crowd and their need to defile and degrade women and whomever else is being paid to perform these acts, I doubt they receive very much money for doing this, and it's at least a beginning I hope the police continue arresting and closing down these clubs so in the future people won't comment that it's as common as rain during rainy season that places like this are a part of the Thai landscape. To make such statements implies that people wish it to remain in this state of open pornographic exploitation and that this is "natural" somehow to the Thai culture. It's "natural" to a culture of exploitation, and "88" implies a kind of foreign influence catering to a certain type of crowd here that is not indigenous to Thailand.

Is this post tongue in cheek? I do hope so.

my company is 888 and so what does that make me?

its supposed to be Chinese good luck

Hilarious! lol

I'd have a lot more respect for "Thailand" if it just cut the bullshit about the sex trade here ... pretending it doesn't exist or isn't happening is not a solution to anything ... it's kind of like all these "inactive posts" that people get moved to ... "we know it's wrong, you did something bad, but we're not going to really punish you for it cos we're all just as bad as you are and making a shitload of money at it too whilst pretending to everyone we're purer than the driven snow" ...

This sums it up:

"Pattaya, which is one of the world's top destinations for sex tourism"

Quite so!

The rest of the world all know Pattaya is one of the iconic sex capitals of the world and some Thai people are trying to deny it! DOH!!

Either stop it or have it.... I don't really care, but don't try to deny the obvious... that just makes you look stupid irrespective of your morality!

Ah, the police are doing their job,

Are there no criminals in Thailand who are more dangerous ?

I guess the police just warned them to enforce the no photos allowed rule

I would dare to say Police own most of the clubs anyway.

The thread should really be updated as the club has not been closed down and is open as normal. The closure is "under consideration".

Correct. I was just on Walking Street. Very much open.

Those of us who live and frequent these bars have the most to loose in our "entertainment" being shutdown because of social media.

You go out to FB or most other social media sites and all have girls/guys being displayed. Maybe not with a woman down on her knees "smoking the bone" but showing butt/breast/...

Club owners should clamp down for the sake of keeping the club(s) open and post signs that "recording media" cannot be used inside of the club and if found to disobey the club rules the club has the right to confiscate the alleged recording media. Period/No 2nd chances.

Under consideration means management is in the process of "paying-off" various officials to keep the club open.

Police action like this is great for business in the long term. Win win short-time/long-time for the payoff boys in brown.

Really funny, especially after the police investigate the impropriety, then head off for a night of fun at the local karaoke bar, with a trip the a 'curtain motel' prior to returning home to the misses. A fraction of the sex trade in Thailand is foreigners.

Of course, but what fraction?

1/10; 9/10?
