Private hospital in Phuket NOT owned by Bangkok Hospital?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a private hospital in Phuket that is not owned by Bangkok Hospital? Due to a heart condition I need to take about 6,000 baht worth of meds each month. My Bupa insurance will pay up to 2,500 baht per day for meds but only if purchased in a hospital. Even though the regimen won't change for the rest of my life, they still insist that I need a fresh visit to the doctor after every third refill. Back in Bangkok that raises the cost to around 12,000 baht per month. It's still cheaper by 400 baht to use the hospital and my insurance than buy the meds at the honest price at the pharmacy without the insurance.

But Bangkok Hospital in Phuket insists not only on more than doubling the drug cost, but they add 150 baht at each refill for putting the medicine in a bag for you and another 200 baht each refill as a doctor's fee even though no doctor is involved.

I've heard that all the private hospitals on Phuket are now owned by Bangkok Hospital, but I'm hoping that that's wrong. Even at the notoriously expensive Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok the cost for my refills are hundreds of baht cheaper than here.

Any advice?

Mission Hospital most definitely is not. http://www.missionhospitalphuket.com/English/english_index.html

And of course the government hospital also is not. (Wachira).

Phuket Intl Hosp and Bangkok Phuket Hosp both are, of course. Which does not necessarily mean prices will be identical at both...but they will both cost more than either Mission or Wachira.

Second on the call on Mission and Vachira. Also the several Vachira affiliates, including the full hospital near downtown and the walk-in clinic just south of downtown Phuket.
