UK police watchdog to probe abuse claim against ex-PM Heath

LONDON (AP) — Britain's police watchdog said Monday that it will investigate whether police failed to pursue an allegation of child sexual abuse against the late Prime Minister Edward Heath in the 1990s.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it had received an allegation "that a criminal prosecution was not pursued, when a person threatened to expose that Sir Edward Heath may have been involved in offenses concerning children."

The Wiltshire Police force said it was trying to find "witnesses or victims who support the allegations of child sex abuse," and urged victims to come forward.

Heath, a Conservative, was prime minister between 1970 and 1974 and had a home in Wiltshire county. He died in 2005, aged 89.

A public inquiry in Britain is investigating whether police and other authorities covered up sexual abuse by powerful people over several decades.

A dam of official silence around child abuse in Britain began to break after the 2011 death of entertainer Jimmy Savile, when dozens came forward to say he had abused them. Subsequent revelations have implicated other entertainers, as well as clergy and senior politicians.

New Zealand judge Lowell Goddard, who is leading the public inquiry, said last month that Britain had been stunned by revelations about child sexual abuse, and warned that the true scale of the crime has long been underestimated.

David Icke formally claimed as such quite some years ago in one of his books, I believe. Long before the Saville outing. Trouble was, wasn't it along the lines of - "met this guy down the pub, who has a friend who knew a janitor who said he witnessed something" as so much of his claims tend to be? For this reason, hearsay is simply not enough for me but since then, if we're honest, some now dead people have been condemned as guilty and subsequently damned to hell on 'claims' (however many) that become too numerous to doubt. Memory on this is sketchy now, but I seem to remember that Icke's claim against Heath went beyond child abuse alone, but simultaneous satanic ritual.

Child abuse is horrendous without any exceptions

Raising cases against those now dead, and cannot defend the allegations is almost as bad, and public money should be spent seeing these things can not be repeated

Maybe cases should be brought against those who covered up if they are still alive, they are even more guilty, because if there had been more prosecutions then it might have acted as a deterrent

Priorities are all wrong, but politicians afraid to stand up and say so, as they may then be branded as Paedophile friendly

I'm sure a LOT of these cases are as a result of lawyers telling people what kind of cash they might get in compensation. Particularly if the dead are not their to defend themselves.

First step is to get some blame established and tell the public we just want to get to the truth. Then all the claims will follow.
