NRC committee details national vision of quality personnel

BANGKOK, 13 August 2015 (NNT) - The National Reform Council (NRC) committee on designing Thailand’s vision and strategic plan for development has proposed that the key to national development is improving Thai labor.

NRC committee member Suwit Maesintree said Thai citizens need to be empowered to be free thinkers, have a thirst for knowledge, be ethical and be proud of their nation.

Dr Suwit said quality personnel would lead to a healthy society and strong economy, greatly reducing social conflicts. He urged the government to support education, skilled labor development, and R&D.

The NRC committee member added that the government should also promote sustainability, reduce inequality, eliminate corruption and reduce conflict.

He's saying all the right things......but will anyone listen...?

"Thai citizens need to be empowered to be free thinkers, have a thirst for knowledge, be ethical and be proud of their nation."........This may happen.....but it's likely generations away unfortunately!

Now I am really confused..............I've always been led to believe that Thais are perfect at all things, so how can they possibly improve on their "quality"?

"NRC committee member Suwit Maesintree said Thai citizens need to be empowered to be free thinkers, have a thirst for knowledge, be ethical and be proud of their nation."

Thai citizens are forbidden from criticizing the government, cannot gather in groups of five or more for political discussions, are taught government approved classes using censored textbooks, and are ruled by a government that came to power by force, dissolved the constitution, and granted the coup-leaders amnesty.

The junta isn't making free thinking, having an inquiring mind, and taking pride in country easy.

What the hell....The fact that he recognizes these things and openly expresses them is a step in the right direction IMHO.

I hate it when people say it's a step in the right direction.

Either take action or shut up.

Talking points don't even flush the toilet.

Lead, follow or get out of the way.

Stop standing in the doorway chanting mindless marches......

People are trying to get somewhere.

"Free thinkers"

Yikes, alarm bells sounding. That's exactly the last thing you'd want.

They might get up to no good, and start questioning the status quo.

Or maybe this term means something different in Thailand?
