Mukdahan International Hospital

Featured Replies

I need to have some surgery which is unavailable in any of the State Hospitals with 100kms.

I took 2 of my friends for appointments in the Dr. Hann Mukdahan International Hospital many years ago and wasn't too impressed. I've been on their Facebook pages which are full of back-slapping pics not related to actual healthcare/procedures and there is very little English on their website. Does any reader have recent experiences of surgery/treatment/pricing (excluding childbirth) as I can find very few useful online comments.

For me, it's 300 kms less driving for the return trip to Muk compared with Udon Thani.

Thanks in advance

My family has used Muk Inter a few times over the years.

Always as out-patients, so I can't give you a heads up re surgery,

but we have always been well cared for, never over charged

and well impressed with the doctors and nurses.

Good luck to you wherever you choose.

You havn't stated what type of Surgery you require so it is very difficult to answer your question. I have had 2 surgeries there over the past 8 years and have survived both but I do not stay in the hospital more than 1 night after surgery, I go home. I know Dr Hahn and all the Doctors there personally as well as the Hospital Management so if you let me know what your problem is I can check and advise you on the matter.

Thanks for your earlier response.

Apologies for the omission --- I was referring to knee surgery or possible replacement.

Knee Surgery, I don't think so but I will check for you and get their recommendation and reply in a day or two.

Thanks for that; I'll hang fire before making the 200km round trip

OK, I checked with the Doctors at Muk Inter and within 30 seconds I got the Usual Answer, " Go to Bangkok". But if I were you I would check with Bangkok Hospital IN Khon Kaen which is fairly new. You could look on the Bangkok Hospital Website and Check their List of Hospitals and go through them to see which one offers this type of Operation. Bangkok Pattaya Hospital could be a good chance, I go there every 6 Months for my Skin Cancer Treatment and a Full Body Check for this from a Lady Doctor who Studied this in Queensland, Australia and I have been very satisfied with the Results over the past 3 years and it may be cheaper than the Bangkok Area Hospitals plus it is definitely cheaper for anyone who may be travelling down with you when you have the operation to stay nearby. Good Luck with your search, Don.

Thanks for all your efforts Don.

I already had some frightening quotes from Bangkok (up to a half mill) and going there would be totally impractical for aftercare following the initial hospital stay.

I have one more local 'specialist' to see making the trip to KK. I was disappointed with the examination at Udon Thani Hospital for the same problems some 6 years ago. No prognosis they only told me what it wasn't.

Thanks Again......

Try the University Hospital in KK, probably a long wait, but it would be a lot cheaper than a private hospital, and with the same or better doctors.
