Can't recommend any particular place as Used Car dealers throughout the world share the samne reputation.

There are many Used Car yards on Rattanakosin Rd between the Municipal Sports Stadium and the River. From Changpuak Gate head towards Mae Rim for about 500-700 metres and take a right at the Changpuak Bus Station, continue straight ahead past the stadium, the yards are on the right.

Unless you are very good at spotting defects even though somebody has done their best to hide them, I would consider adding some 100 000-200 000 getting a new car instead. Be especially wary of telltale signs from crashes such as mended cracks in the engine etc.

Cheers Blinky. I found the area you mentioned this afternoon. Its sort of near the JJ market and also near Index furniture. Anyway i was blown away by the ridiculous prices, not much different than new prices.. Anyone ever had any luck with new car financing in CM ?? I have 50 % to put down and would look at paying off the balance over 12 months... Regards, A.

Gidday Gonz. I really think a number of TV members (self included at times) should be given instructions on how to get to the Suan Prung Hospital on Chang Lo Road between Mahidol and Thipannet Roads.

No Pun intended. :o

I walked into one of these lots a few years back and was just floored as I watched the Indian owner helping his mechanic turn back the odometer on a late model truck. He didn't seem the least bit disturbed that I was watching him, and when he was done he came over to see how he might be of service to me. Buy new, or maybe from a farang who has to leave town suddenly is my suggestion.

Niyom Panich

Probably the most reliable used car dealer in CM.

5 years ago I bought their cheapest sedan (Mitsu Champ 11 years old, 170 000 km for 120 000 bahts) and I never experienced a single problem.

Their mechanics, trained by Toyota, are the best in town.

Buying second hand is a very risky business.

85% of Subaru Imprenza's for instance are "cut and shunt" jobs in LOS :o

As previously stated its worth spending a couple of hundred grand more on a brand new one IMHO

Cars out here are hardly ever "Written off" as labour to fix them is so cheap

Plus buying used, the dealers will hardly ever let you take a test drive, there was an interesting post on this subject a while back where a member wanted to test drive a used car, but the dealer said he could not as he would get it dirty....lame or what? :D

Having said that though, I wanted to test drive a brand new car from a specialist dealer in Thong Lo, Bangkok and they wanted me to put down 100,000 Baht deposit before I drove it. If I did not like it...no refund, just had to keep test driving others till you find the one you want.....you gotta be kidding me :D I walked away

Right, it's close to the Airport Plaza. There's also a branch on Rachadamnoen rd.

They let you take a test drive : as far as I'm concerned I went to Hang Dong (highway) and then to Doi Suthep (the long and winding road) via the Canal rd (Klong Chon Pathan).
