Gen Anupong believes in PM's ability to handpick scholars for new CDC

BANGKOK, 8 September 2015 (NNT) - Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda believed Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha would be able to select qualified persons for the new Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) as Thailand still has a lot of capable people.

Following the rejection of the draft charter by the National Reform Council (NRC) two days ago, Gen Anupong said that the government is still confident in its ability to maintain peace and order in the country. He said the government must adhere to the current roadmap which stipulates that a new charter be drafted in 20 months. He confirmed the country would be in peace and order as long as all the people support the common goal.

He anticipated that the new constitution might have to contain transitional provisions to ensure the country could overcome obstacles and move forward.

University celebrates Thai - Cambodian ties

BANGKOK, 8 September 2015 (NNT) - Chandrakasem Rajabhat University has launched a Thai-Cambodian bilingual textbook on the occasion of its 75th anniversary and 65th anniversary of the Thai - Cambodian relations.

Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand Eat Sophia on Tuesday presided over the opening ceremony of the photography exhibition “Two Kingdoms: One Legend” aimed at fostering good relations between Thailand and Cambodia. The Thai-Cambodian bilingual textbook “Mani Mekhala,” an outside reading book in the university’s Cambodian language curriculum, was also launched at the event.

Chandrakasem Rajabhat University Rector Sumali Chaiyasupharakun said the third language proficiency was necessary to prepare students for the ASEAN Economic Community. The university therefore offered Cambodian language courses for students and the general public. It hoped that the photography exhibition and the Mani Mekhala textbook would make them understand the Cambodian language and culture more, said the rector.
