Renting a condo for 1 year - Asok vs Thong Lo

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have been in Bangkok for about 3 weeks and will soon be getting a condo. I am currently in the Asok area of Sukhumvit and that is what I am familiar with. As a photographer who likes to go out at night and take photos of vibrant areas, I am wondering if Thong Lo would be a better option.

My budget is around 25,000 for a 1 bedroom. It looks like I can find something to meet this in either area. My question is mainly about the price and availability of food in Thong Lo. I can get a decent, quick meal in Asok for under 150 Baht, with a couple if nice food stalls charging 50 - 60. Do such things exist in the Long Lo area? It's known for fancy restaurants, but I am unlikely to do much of that unless with a date.

The obvious answer is to get out and compare both areas and I will be doing that, but would like to hear from people who have experience living in these areas.

I like the Thong Lo area too and have noticed the high end restaurants.

I live in Saphan Khwai.

If I could afford the rents downtown, I would choose Thang Lo.

I go to Bangkok Hospital and always enjoy a good mealwhere the hospital shuttle van drops us off at Thang Lo

Plenty of cheap food around Thong Lor. You can't smell Nana from there either, which is a bonus.
