Question regarding online visa application for tourist visa Thai GF

Featured Replies

Hi, I wish to apply online for a tourist visa for my GF. Reading the immigration check list, they want certified copies of her passport. Is this necessary if applying online ? Same for the passport sized photograph signed on the back of, how do you satisfy this requirement online ?

In the actual application process, do you fill in the blanks on line or print up the forms and scan and save then

Send them online?

One other thing, if you need to have documents certified, who is authorised to do that here in Thailand.

Thanks for any advice you can provide

I am Australian and we have been living together in Thailand for about a year ( exception of trips home by me ). We are not near Bangkok our closest embassy is in Phuket consultate I guess. Her papers for land owned and kids are in Surin.

I applied online for the TW earlier this year. The entire application was completed online. Passport copy etc. was self certified; supporting documents were scanned and submitted through the online portal. The visa was approved in less than 24 hours, (although my wife has visited Australia with me many times over the past 15 years, but this was the first online application that we had done).

Well done mark5335. Sounds like a breeze. Im to nervy to do it online. Easy though as I live in bkk. Going for third one soon. I always throw kitchen sink at it...overkill.

You mention she has been many times. Did they give you 12 months this time. Reason I ask is that we actually have 2 trips planned. One this November and also Feb next year.

OP is this her first application to visit AU?

it seems subsequent applications are "more easy" as all the conditions on first visa were met.

Would be interesting to hear from any AU members that applied online first up. Of course I mean HER application.

Mark5335, did you have to provided a passport photo in the documents you uploaded ?

This is her first application.

956a application for me to act on her behalf - can that be submitted at the same time when applying for the visa ?

OP why not look into doing it by post. That way you can provide all the originals. Make sure everything is included.

Can't get post here where I live. Tried sending myself a post card and it never arrived. Farang neighbours lived her for over a year said they never get any mail. They have it sent to their business in town.

OP obviously everyone does things differently. You have a straight up advantage in that it would seem you would be travelling with your Thai partner. Also you have know her for some time. The compelling need to return is important. My application was extensive and I even did a stat dec at au embassy bkk. .....anyway include as much as possible. This is why I suggested registered mail.

I'm sure your can figure out a reliable way to post and receive back to a better know address than yours.

As they say up to you.

While they recommend you not buy plane tickets prior to approval. I did and again adds intention to return.

Failure rates are low for truthful applications. The more detail the better.

They have approved 12 months multiple entry visa for her the last few times. Earlier on, the visa's were approved at the High Commission in Singapore and 12 month multiple entry visa's were always approved there on the same day. Then after we returned to Bangkok to live, the first visa approved here was only a 3 month visa, then all subsequent visa's were 12 month multiple entry. These days I make a point of writing in the proposed travel dates/reason to visit etc., two proposed trips...one in the next few weeks, and a second one 7 or so months later, and they therefore approve 12 months multiple entry visa as we had show a need for it.

Yes. I scanned it and uploaded it onto the online portal.

Great advice Mark, thanks for that.
