Chinese investors urged to invest in special economic zones

BANGKOK, 24 September 2015 (NNT)-Thailand is trying to attract Chinese investors after the Chinese government has announced its support for SMEs to invest overseas.

Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said more Chinese investors especially those owning SMEs have expressed their investment interest in Thailand.

She added that the Chinese government is trying to cope with rising costs of raw materials and daily wages by encouraging Chinese businessmen to seek more affordable items and labor beyond China.

Those Chinese are interested in Thailand which is a well-established production base in the ASEAN region and has already been a major supplier of raw materials to several Chinese industries.

Prospective Chinese investors have been given information about the Special Economic Zones and industrial estates in Thailand, particularly the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate and the SEZ in Songkhla province which is considered an ideal location for car tyre factories.

Out begging again - no Cash at home seems like ... gigglem.gif

Rubbish! Japan's investments into Thailand has been a major driver of the industrialization of Thailand. Now China has risen and may need to outsource. What's wrong with that?

If the Thai government didn't encourage investments, then you'd probably accuse them of being lazy. You're just a Thai basher!

You're right, it is exactly what Thailand should be doing. Now all it has to do is ensure that the law supports investment like 100% foreign ownership for your money, easy application for visas, NOT installing a single gateway for internet traffic, simple finance available for local investment etc,,,

I am not a Thai basher, I hope that one day the xenophobic attitude falls away and Thailand moves forward into the modern world. But right now it does not make life easy and Vietnam has its arms wide open in comparison.

Where would you invest your big money today?

Personally I don't like the xenophobic attitudes and single gateway. But this particular thread is about getting Chinese investments into Thailand. Do you think the singe-gateway or other controlling "features" are deterring China? I don't think so, quite the opposite!
