Butt sprayers: using in other countries

Will a butt sprayer bought in Thailand connect to the toilet input valves in Europe, Australia, Middle East? Are the connectors the same size or different?

Is this connection an international plumbing standard? I know a splitter valve would be needed but the issue is whether the connectors and threads match so you can screw the connector on. Thanks for info.

all the piping accessories (t-fitting, valve. etc) can be purchased wherever you happen to be as they are not specific to bum squirters...and if you look you'll find that the plastic hose/nozzle arrangement is also available...

however, if you have yer own favorite, monogrammed hose/nozzle arrangement that can only be purchased in Thailand for that 'personalized touch'...

Yup, the threads will fit.

Do be aware of local water regulations, for example in the UK this device would have to be installed with a double-check valve to prevent any possibility of back-syphoning.

Perfect example of how farangs complicate and increase the cost of a perfectly good and simple design for the sake of sanitation. tongue.png

Installed in the US with parts bought here.....I installed.....

Virtually unheard of in most other parts of the world.....Depending on the age of the plumbing in other countries fabricating from scratch can be an interesting → butt ugly result....And the correctly aimed/type sprayers could be hard to find.....Some have a spread spray pattern while others might blow your eyeballs out.....

A spray from the cold water pipe in European winter.

Thats refreshing blink.png

I hope they don't use it in the middle of the night in winter.

Now that'll be an eye opener

Finding a good plumber in Western countries who can think through installing difficulties including getting a acceptable water temperature is the key to successfully fixing a Bum Gun to a toilet in temperate climates.

This I discovered several years ago in Australia when my search failed to find such a person who could install the device. I was very disappointed as I think they are essential for hygiene reasons. I also believe they are superior to 'bidets' which take up too much room in the toilet and far too expensive.

Toilets with built-in butt washers and driers have been around in Japan for a long time. Why not just buy a Japanese toilet? Toto and Panasonic are popular brands and are available worldwide.

Every modern house in the US has at least one installed. However, it is not installed in the bathroom, it is installed in the kitchen. The Sinks are made with an extra hole put there especially for the sprayer. They are used to clean the garbage from the plates into the sink/garbage disposal. I guess hanging your butt over the sink to wash it would be an option, but in the north where the "cold" water is near freezing in the winter it would be a real wake up call!

Not at all. I drank out of the tap in the UK, and wouldn't want to be ingesting hepaptitis with my drink.

In Thailand not many drink tap water.

Mind you I wouldn't want to use a bum gun in winter in the UK.

What he said laugh.png

I couldn't get decent hot water out of the mixer tap in a new house so i contacted the manufacturer. He asked me for the serial number on the control cartridge and the temperature of the hot and cold water. When i told him the cold water was around 34F he laughed and said the cartridge was for warmer cold water and send me a different cartridge.

So i cannot imagine a bum squirter with 34 degree water. bah.gif Also most western bathrooms are carpeted whistling.gif

In Queensland Cities the water come in at mains pressure not from tanks in the roof so you maybe giving yourself an enima with mains pressure

Why not just get a Bidet from France ? you can then also wash your feet, wash your cat or small dog in it, most have a hot and cold tap so you can adjust flow and temperature

thanks crossy. You have actually installed one?

It's not for the UK. It's just for a temporary trip so I'm not going to buy a Japanese toilet.

Personally, I would rather endure freezing water for a few seconds than use primitive western disgusting toilet paper system that doesn't get you clean. But to each his own. And where/when I am going the water is not very cold.

Homepro stock a range of toilet seats with built in spray jets for both male and female anatomy ! Low cost, around 2,500 THB, easy to plumb into the water pipes and very effective. Would not be without it now.

And since Japan has fairly cold winters, many (most?) of their "washlets" have built-in water heaters. Should work okay with N.America electrical systems, though may need converter for 220/240v systems elsewhere unless Toto/Panasonic/etc make export models specifically for those countries.

just install a valve, open it partially

I bought one and I live in the USA (Hawaii). Use google and search "hand bidet" you should have plenty of results. The one I bought came with all the attachments needed to hook it up (including a pressure regulator), took about 10 minutes to get it up and running.
