Human-trafficking crackdowns return empty handed

PHUKET: The two-month crackdown on human smuggling and human trafficking on the island came up empty handed, despite several such cases ‘organically’ surfacing just last year.

Last June, two debt-trapped Cambodians were freed from Phuket Town after officers were tipped off by one of the victim’s relatives (story here). Earlier that year, a 10-year-old Cambodian boy and his 6-year-old sister were rescued in Patong after a tip off from an NGO in Chiang Rai (story here).

Nonetheless, the dedicated government push that focused on those working in the construction, nightlife and fishing industries, as well as beggars and Rohingya, found zero human trafficking activities on the island.

The two month party is over ran out of money beer.

I have a friend here in Jomtien, said he went out one night, walked for about an hour. Said (with bit of disappointment) he didn't pass by even one woman available for a "private encounter". I'd like to see his path.

Maybe Phuket team just looked in country clubs, hiso hotels, consulates.... trafficking not easy to miss, but can be done if set mind to it.

ha ha ha ...I actually used to watch that show.

The longer you stay here and the more you learn about the true nature and character of all too many Thai people ( not all of course.... but all too many ) the more you lose any sense of respect you ever had for the people in general.

So much of what happens in Thailand happens because no one can stop so many others from doing what ever they want while those that are amongst the ones doing what ever they want , regardless of the ramifications and implications occurring, seemingly are not bothered at all by what they have done or what they are involved with and or any damage they have done or tragedies they have perpetrated.

Is there a specific word for conscience in the Thai language????

Meantime...the people ( the authorities ) who can do something to put a stop to the crimes do little if anything as they are too busy taking care of their own personal agenda rather than doing what their position dictates they should be doing.

5 months ago and 6 months ago there was immeasurable amounts of human trafficking being exposed in southern Thailand .....but now there is nothing at all to report.

Disturbing to say the least and yet another mark against their character... to be noted.
