Thailand - US join hands to combat potential influenza outbreak

BANGKOK, 8 October 2015 (NNT) – Thailand and the United States has co-hosted a conference on the preparedness and response measures for the potential outbreak of influenza, which was participated by World Health Assembly (WHA) member states.

The Permanent-Secretary of the Public Health Ministry Sopon Mekthon has revealed that the conference on the preparedness and the response for the potential outbreak of influenza has been initiated by the cooperation between Thai Ministry of Public Health and the United States Department of State, established since 2007, to hold a government level conference on public health agendas.

The conference today was held to follow up on the progress during the past 5 years, and to analyze factors that affects nations’ responding capabilities to the future influenza outbreak. The conference was participated by delegates from WHA member states, World Health Organization (WHO) advisory panel, international organizations, the civil society sector, and the network of laboratories for vaccine manufacturing.

Thailand expressed its stance at the conference, to encourage a division of framework by focusing on the exchange and transport of virus and biological safety. Operations under the virus export cooperation will see additional support, including surveillance and response procedures for influenza outbreaks.

Thailand also demonstrated its intention to support the self-reliance via domestic vaccine manufacturing. Vaccine allocation will be considered to expanded to increase accessibility, while operations will be integrated to prevent new diseases from emerging under a cooperative framework.

I think the whole world will soon to start to see an outbreak of Mers after the recent haj to Mecca, especially those countries with many people who went there. But we also know that other lethal flu like viruses are spread by pigs and migrating birds. I am glad Thailand is co operating with the US on this. All S.E. Asian countries are particularly at risk, any help for a co ordinated approach is welcome. Congratulations to WHO, WHA and the US Dept of State.

Beware of flu shots because they are like all other vaccines useless and dangerous. According to Dr Fudenberg, anyone who has a flu vaccine five years in a row has a ten-fold increased risk of getting Alzheimer's.

Have you ever heard that there is no link between vaccines and autism? It's a lie. :

I agree that the flu vaccines are not very useful, but other vaccines are not useless they do work.
