Police to invite Turkish Ambassador to help with bombing case

BANGKOK, 10 October 2015 (NNT) – The Royal Thai Police has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to invite the Turkish Ambassador to Thailand to help police with the search for Bangkok bombing suspects.

Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri, spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police disclosed that police had planned to call on the Turkish Ambassador to discuss the progress in the verification of the passports of Abudureheman Abdusataer also known as Izan, Wanna Suansan and her husband Emrah Davutoglu.

As for the hunt for other suspects, Pol Lt Gen Prawut said the Thai suspect Odd Payungwong was believed to be hiding in the central region, adding Zubair Abdullah had escaped to the South. It was unclear whether Mr. Abdullah had left the country.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Money Laundering Office is tracking the transactions of those allegedly linked to the bomb attacks at Ratchaprasong area and Sathon Pier.

I know that they are pulling in just about any Turks they can find, but lifting the Ambassador is a bit over the top!

Very surprised the Turks have not called in the RTP after today's bombing which so far has killed over 30 people.

They would have the case solved in days but they might upset the Turks by staying it wasn't a terrorist attack, just one of revenge !!

That's smart move no one expects Thai police to know all the answers. But the citizenry expects Thai police to use all resources available to find them

So they still know nothing and are telling us they know almost nothing.

lol, the only thing we know for sure is they paid themselves the reward money.

Twice.

You would not believe what goes on here without seeing it happen yourself.

Q. Why announce it? Just do it if you are going to do it.

A. Because you're lying prats.

Only Decided to call the turks now?

When the case is solved

Bombers in jail

Reward already paid twice

For outstanding policework

I expect the next photo line up of the latest suspects to also include Bernard Matthews, Joe Strummer,Tommy Cooper and a doner kebab.

Careful my man, look what happened last time when the Saudi's where in town to investigate something.

Just nod & point at the main suspect...

A couple of mornings ago Channel News Asia reported the BIB had stated all enquiries would be finalised within the next three weeks and presumably said before the idea to ask the Turkish Ambassador to ' assist '.

It's bad enough the BIB feel obliged to talk almost non-stop but just as bad is the fact they completely forget what was said in the preceding statement which makes them look even more stupid than usual. If they had actually considered the need for the Ambassador's help before stating the case would be wrapped up in three weeks would it not have been more appropriate to confirm he would assist before being so confident about a closure date.

I thought Aod was supposed to be the key to this whole travesty of an investigation.

Not Aod.

Who he works for wink.png

WILL they never learn, the more they talk the sillier it becomes, a week ago it was all done and dusted, but now the "Rewards " have been paid it all seems to be back on again, as another poster said what next, ? Micky Miny & Pluto in the line up coffee1.gif

Amazing!

How long have the RTP known Turkey was a huge connection with this bombing and they are just now calling the Ambassador for help. Wow! That is a very slow response.

i thought this was all over and all set. Maybe they did not do a good job the first time out.Now they are asking for more help, but they gave the rewards out already.

There must be a third pile of cash that is still uncollected. ;)

"police had planned to call on the Turkish Ambassador to discuss the progress in the verification of the passports of Abudureheman Abdusataer"

The police need to go through the Thai Foreign Minister for any discussions with the Turkish Ambassador. Such a direct contact is diplomatically incorrect and rude. The Turkish Ambassador is a representative of the Head of Government. For the police to make direct contact with him would be like the Director of the USA FBI contacting Prayut for a discussion on police matters.

If the Turkish government is willing to have a discussion with the police, it will be coordinated between the Foreign Minister and the Turkish Ambassador. It is these kind of diplomatic miscues that isolates the Thai government from the world community.

So it aint gonna happen and it never was going to happen, more hot air from the RTP.

How long exactly would it take to verify passports? Also this reminds me, did they get back to the Turks on the whereabouts of the kingpin who fled the day before the bombing.

Are the Turkish people or their diplomatic officials hearing any of this drivel, it is accusing them of murder, international terrorism in fact.

definition of incompetence and stupidity redefined.....over and over!
