Went to Save One Market last night. Despite last weeks sad news, the place was teeming, with Thais going about their normal business, 95% of them wearing black as a sign of respect.

Not wishing to traipse around with the family, I had hoped to sit down quietly supping a beer or 2 until time to eat.

Despite numerous eating places, as well as the large food court, there seemed to be nowhere to buy a beer and sit and drink it. Eventually, having spotted another farang with a bottle of Chang, I discovered a small grocer with a fridge and beer. That seemed to be it. I had a few bottles of Chang with a flimsy plastic cup. Later saw a few Thai men doing the same.

On the basis that I will have to visit the market again, can anyone advise if there is somewhere to sit and have a beer.?   Seems strange to me that a market of this size, that sells everything, including soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee. tea etc does not sell beer. And I don;t believe any such places were closed due to the death of the King, I think there just weren't any.

If looking at Tops Market from front, go around to your left and have a few food stalls that sell beer and there's a food court type thing across from it other side of road sell beer , too, many places, look for the tables to sit down at

I've never been to Save One, but.............there's a Tops in Korat?

never heard of that, either.

where?

It's not a full Tops but their value (Super-Koom) branded store. The Save One Market is Ok..but a much better Thai style night market is actually near the  Ya Mo statue in the middle of the area inside the moat. Save One is more like a huge flea market. Save one needs a cab or tuk tuk ride (about 15 minutes outside of town).

thanks.  I'll look for it if I'm ever in that area again.  I tend to avoid the market, too.

Dont have to look to hard in the center of everything, ez, 7/11 handy too, there's a Pizza company close by, Class Cafe is around the corner, Burgers are incredibly Tasty

What's the name of the market you pass on the main highway from Korat to Bangkok? I've passed a few times and seen a flea market sign there. Is this the Save One Market?
