cheynewalk
Can anybody tell me if ganfort and azopt eye drops are available in thai pharmacies? If so does anybody know the cost?
lopburi3
Both are available here but might have to be ordered as drug stores do not normally keep much eye drop stock due to storage issues. I have had azopt in the past but currently on Cosopt and Xalacom. As I obtain from hospital do not know what they cost in drug stores.
lopburi3
Have found old Alcon made 5ml generic Timolol Maleate .5% that never used with drug store marked price of 150 baht (2011 date).
Sheryl
Ganfort is a brand name for a combination of bimatoprost + timolol Azopt is a brand name for Brinzolamide Both of these brands are imported and thus expensive, I don't know the exact cost but it will be more than in Europe. There are inexpensive locally made brands of timolol but without the bimatoprost. Combo of the two is only Ganfort., and for Brinzolamide there is only Azopt brand. Bottom line is that if you have to be on these specific drugs, it is going to be costly. As for pharamacies carrying them, will need to be a large one. If the OP's eyes are maintained in a stable state by the current prescribed medication he would be very unwise to think about seeking an alternative. I do not know but could the OP's medication be obtained from the Rutnin Eye hospital ?
lopburi3
If a patient I suspect it could be obtained there, if they stock it, but as said will likely be more expensive than at a drug store. My hospital cost for Cosopt is 1204.27 baht per month and Xalatan is 1250 per month.
elgordo38
I am using Timolol Maleate eye drops 0.5% for eye pressure. made in Belgium. I buy at the drug store here for 185 bahts. The stuff I got from the hospital was over a 1000 bahts when I first started. Details for this are on the following link. http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-152809/timolol-maleate-pf-ophthalmic/details
cheynewalk
I was on cosopt and xalatan for years, but they no longer control my pressures properly. In malaysia ganfort is available at about 850 baht and azopt 700 baht. If it is an issue i will stick to obtaining them there.
DonaldBattles
My eye doctor in Chiang Rai only prescribes Xalatan. It is the only medication that the Government Hospital uses. The hospital charges 470B in the drugstore it is 700B. A drop per night in each eye is one bottle or 470B. At age 82 my pressure has been maintained for 4 years. This was after surgery for cataracts. keeniau96
I was using cosopt and xalatan but now changed to DuoTrav (made by Alcon). Cost of DuoTrav is 720 baht for one month (one drop once per day) in Supercheap (huge store in Phuket, somewhat like a low-end Tesco).
