Former Prisoners of War return to the Bridge on the River Kwai to remember their comrades 70 years on

ITV News joins three World War II veterans as they return to the Bridge on the River Kwai to pay their respects 70 years after their liberation.

Jack Jennings, 95, William Maurice Naylor, 94, and James "Jim" Crossan, 98, were among those who were imprisoned by the Japanese and forced to work on the notorious Death Railway.

(Btw I filmed and edited this piece)

Its good to see that some of the survivors managed to go on to a long life after what they had to go through. Congratulations to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for the work they do in maintaining the cemeteries and memorials in 154 countries.

My Heart goes out to these blokes having regularly worked here myself building houses mixing concrete etc by hand the heat/humidity is atrocious and their treatment was truly despicable......these were real men and Thailand should take VERY good care of them.

I just wonder if they will charge them the farang price to visit.............I really wouldnt be surprised

I visit Kanchanabury quite often. For years, I have been going to the same "Guest House". They know me. I know them. They complain, that "every year less tourists".

They realize that eventually the "River Kwai" events will fade away into history. The Guest House is for sale now.

A "Thai Assessment" of the situation.

Cheers.
