Small fire inside my laptop -should I be concerned?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have some Dell thingy and have never had a problem with it until the battery packed up, so I took it out and ran only on mains for about a month. Then I got a new battery, went to a good shop to make sure it was the correct one and genuine too. All good first time of use charged up no probs, then on the second time I had the battery in and the laptop plugged into the mains, suddenly, underneath where I plug the mains cable in an orange light shot across and underneath towards the power button. I could smell smoke and inspected it carefully but since the nits been working fine on mains alone, battery alone or with battery being charged by the mains. Like that for three weeks now, no problems at all. What was that little fire I saw?

Should not be problem. But keep a wet towel handy and wear rubber gum boots when using!
