Changing employer - Work permit and family extension visas

Featured Replies

Hi

My husband is changing employer and I am wondering whether we will all need to leave Thailand to get new non-immigrant B and O visas for my husband, myself and our son? I am 29 weeks pregnant so would rather not travel unless completely necessary. Seems to be conflicting information out there.

Thanks

If the change of jobs is done properly and with a small amount of cooperation from the current employer going out for new visas would not be needed.

It can be complicated if the new job is in a different province.

The new employer would need to apply for a work permit for him and get a work permit application approval letter.

Then your husband would be able to apply for a new extension based upon working for the new employer. A termination letter dated on the date he goes to immigration for the extension from the existing employer would be needed to cancel his current extension. Then with documents from the new employer and the work permit approval letter he could get the new extension. After his existing work permit is canceled his new one would be issued.

You and your son could then get new extensions based upon his new extension.
