12-gauge bullet wound at his left temple

Would suggest a 12g bullet - 1oz slug ? - would blow his hear off, not wound !

If the projectile didn't take his head off, I would have thought the expanding muzzle gasses would have. Unless, of course, he wasn't holding the gun, and was shot at a distance.

Hard to get a full length 12 gauge shotgun to your own temple and still reach the trigger. Most suicides using a shot gun are done by placing the barrel in your mouth and pushing the trigger with a stick or using your toe. Not that this information is helpful. It was obviously a suicide attempt.

That's why it was a bad attempt. Instructions only come in English.

12 gauge shot to the head and the guy is still alive. Wow, there's the universe saying, "It ain't your time to go yet."

shotgun suicides of the self inflicted type, no stick necessary unless your talking a ducking hunting gun with a 39" barrel and a 5'2" thai man).. then yeah, maybe.

Whether it's in the mouth or temple, same distance eh?

12ga, doesn't have the muzzle velocity to "blow your head off". It will punch a nice hole and leave a lot of stuff on the walls.

a direct right angle position.. he would clearly be dead.

An unbelievably large amount of (home made) pistols

in Thailand are configured to fire shotgun rounds. I

would hazard the guess the numbers could be as high

as in the 50% range. Loads vary from slugs to birdshot.

I forgot to mention in my post that the butt of the gun is placed on the floor. No need to hold the gun. Unless we are talking about an extremely short gun. Holding the gun steady with one hand, we are talking about considerable weight most of which is on the far end, is a feat within itself. Now trying to activate a trigger with the other hand makes it extremely unlikely. Not saying impossible, just unlikely.
